FIGO (1998) Staging

Staging is based on surgicopathological findings.

Stage 0 

Carcinoma in situ (endometrial hyperplasia with cytological atypia)

Stage I

Stage IA: Tumour limited to the endometrium

Stage IB: Invasion of less that half of the myometrium

Stage IC: Invasion equal to or greater than half of the myometrium

Stage II

Stage IIA: Endocervical glandular involvement only

Stage IIB: Cervical stromal invasion

Stage III

Stage IIIA: Tumour invades serosa of the uterus and/or adnexa, and/or positive peritoneal cytology

Stage IIIB: Vaginal metastases

Stage IIIC: Metastases to pelvic and/or para-aortic lymph nodes

Stage IV

Stage IVA: Tumour invasion of bladder and/or bowel mucosa

Stage IVB: Distant metastases including intra-abdominal and/or inguinal lymph nodes (disease outside the true pelvis)
