Work-up for Suspected Vulval Malignancy

  1. Biopsy and histology mandatory
  2. Chest X-Ray
  3. Pre-anaesthetic investigations as required eg: FBC, ELFT and ECG

Where clinically indicated:-

  1. CT scan of abdomen and pelvis where suspicious of groin node metastasis, particularly to evaluate pelvic lymph node status.
  2. Cystoscopy
  3. Proctoscopy

Screening

There is no proven screening test available for the detection of either vulval cancer or VIN. Most patients with VIN or cancer are symptomatic particularly with itch. VIN can be opportunistically detected at the time of colposcopy for CIN.
