Supporting Partners Pack

Supporting Partners Pack

This kit was designed and written specifically for men – however it is written in such a way that it will be helpful to anyone who is supporting their partner through a life-threatening or life-changing illness. Serious illness is an emotional as well as a physically depriving experience. On many levels the going is tough. We usually don’t get a chance to ‘practice’ our reactions or responses, yet they can be so important to your partner, children, extended family and even friends.

Supporting Partner Programme

For men whose partner is living with a life changing illness. Their illness affects partners and families too. Treatment and after-effects can be tough on everyone and stress(G) and worry can eat away at people and relationships. Keeping work and family life going through illness is never easy

Leaflet: Information and Education Programme

Information & Education Programme

The Gynaecological Cancer Society has developed an Information and Education Programme. Its purpose is to offer authoritative information on all aspects of gynaecological cancer. The Programme contains information designed for use by patients, carers, students and medical professionals. The Programme consists of an internet site www.gcsau.org, 3 CD-ROM’s, 36 titles of patient information leaflets and booklets, and a resource database.

Emotional Support Help Line

For some time medical professionals have recognised the benefit to be derived by newly diagnosed gynaecological cancer patients and their carers from being able to simply talk to past-patients who have experienced gynaecological cancer. The specific type of emotional and practical support offered by past-patients is of a kind that can only be given through having had the real-life experience of ‘having been there, done that!’.
